The family of late veteran actor, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced programmes to complete his burial rites, including an 8th-day Fidau prayer and a 40-day Artists’ Day in his honour.
In a statement signed by veteran actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, on behalf of the family, the family expressed profound appreciation to fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers who turned out in large numbers for the burial on Monday, 24th August 2026.
The family said the massive turnout was a demonstration of the love and respect Nigerians had for the late screen icon.
“We may not be able to mention names individually at this time, but Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, knows you all. May Allah reward you abundantly, bless you and your families, and ensure that no calamity comes upon you in your lifetime,” the statement read.
According to the family, two major events have been scheduled:
8TH-DAY FIDAU PRAYER
The Fidau prayer will hold on Monday, 31st August 2026 in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The family appealed to friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to come en masse to pray for the peaceful repose of Ogogo and to ask Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
40-DAY ARTISTS’ DAY
As part of the final rites, an Artists’ Day will be held 40 days after the burial at Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
The event will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers who will celebrate the life and legacy of the late actor.
The programme will be coordinated by the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners of Nigeria, (TAMPAN).
The family urged the public to continue to rally around them during this difficult period and described Ogogo’s contributions to the entertainment industry as unforgettable.
