After years of acting leadership, the Oyo State Government has appointed substantive principal officers for The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Dr. Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as Rector and Dr. Olajide Taiwo Sherifat as Registrar.
In the same vein, the governor also approved the appointment of Mr. Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole as Bursar and Mr. Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola as Librarian of the institution.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, disclosed this on Tuesday in his office after receiving the approval letter from the Governor.
Hon. Olayiwola explained that the appointment of the four principal officers followed due process. He noted that the exercise commenced with a public advertisement in national newspapers and was followed by a series of interviews conducted by the Governing Council of the institution, chaired by Prof. Lanre Nassar.
It should be noted that the institution’s principal officers have been in acting capacity since 2005.
While congratulating the newly appointed officers, Hon. Olayiwola stated that their appointments take effect from July 31, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.
