The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Nigeria’s young population through quality education, skills development, and human capital development.
The FG described the country’s youthful demographic as a strategic asset for sustainable economic growth and national prosperity.
Speaking at the 2026 World Population Day commemoration in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, said education remains the most effective tool for equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to achieve their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Prof. Ahmad noted that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Ministry of Education is implementing reforms to improve foundational learning, reduce the number of out-of-school children, strengthen teacher quality, expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, promote digital literacy, ensure safe learning environments, and advance girl-child education.
She called for stronger collaboration among government, development partners, communities, and other stakeholders to address barriers facing young people and unlock Nigeria’s demographic dividend.
The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to investing in education as the foundation for building an inclusive, resilient, and globally competitive nation where every young Nigerian has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to sustainable national development.
