‎FOMWAN Oyo Flags Off 40th Anniversary, Urges Women To Uphold Values Of Womanhood

As the Oyo State chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), begins the celebration of its 40th anniversary, the State Amira, Dr. (Mrs.) Lateefat Dairo, has called on women to continue to promote the ideals of womanhood, motherhood, and parenthood.

‎Dr. Dairo gave the charge on Monday during a rally to flag off a week-long celebration.

‎She admonished members of the association not to relent in their efforts in propagating the FOMWAN ideology, which is commitment to the spiritual, educational, and socio-economic development of Muslim women and the wider society.

‎While enjoining Muslims to continue to contribute their quota towards making Nigeria a better and greater society irrespective of the positions they find themselves, Dr. Dairo urged youths to shun the “get-rich-quick” syndrome. She advised them to imbibe the culture of hard work and contentment.

‎The Oyo State Amira of FOMWAN expressed optimism that the proposed School of Nursing by the association will take off before the celebration of its golden jubilee.

‎In her address, the Chairperson of the anniversary committee, Alhaja Surura Oyero, said the rally was organized to keep members fit and sensitize the public about the association.

‎‎She urged members of the public, especially females and younger ones, to join the association, noting that FOMWAN has held its ground and would need the younger generation to take on the mantle of leadership.

‎According to her, the week-long celebration will feature a Youths Day programme with lectures on security challenges, youth development, fear, trauma, Iman, and responsibility. It will also include environmental sanitation exercises across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state, humanitarian activities, Jumat service, special prayers, final rounds of essay, Qur’an and quiz competitions, a healthcare awareness campaign, and will round off with a grand finale on Sunday.
