Ambode, Jandor Step Down As Tinubu Endorses Hamzat

Following the endorsement of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election, former Governor Akinwumi Ambode and 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran (Jandor), have stepped down their ambition.

Ambode Congratulated the President anointed candidate, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the party candidate, which he said is occasioned by his years of loyalty, consistency, and service.

‎”I remain committed to supporting the re-election of our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

‎”This is a call to stay united, disciplined, and focused on our collective progress. Our commitment to the party remains unwavering, fully aligned with the leadership and vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Now, the focus is simple: to secure victory and advance a more prosperous Lagos and Nigeria.”

In his submission, Jandor attributed his decision to step down out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity.

“Let me be unequivocal: I remain a loyal and committed member of the APC. I also reaffirm my unalloyed loyalty and respect for the President and national leader of our party, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. His leadership remains central to the stability and progress of our party and the nation at large.

“In line with this, I hereby fully align myself with the position and direction of Mr. President regarding the Lagos State gubernatorial process. Party supremacy and strategic alignment are critical to sustaining the gains we have collectively built over the years.
