Minimum Wage: Oyo NLC, TUC Call For Quick Implementation

Following the N70,000 minimum wage agreement between the federal government and the labour unions, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State chapter, has called for the quick implementation at all levels of government.

According to the Union, this is to ease the hardship being faced by workers in the country.

Speaking in an interview, Chairman, Oyo state chapter of the NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins, described the approval of the new minimum wage as a welcome development, however, said that delay in its implementation might prolong the suffering of Nigerian workers.

While imploring governors in the country to emulate the gesture of the federal government, Mr. Martins stressed the need for the governors to expedite action on its quick implementation.

Speaking in the same vein, Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Mr. Bosun Olabiyi, said the three years reviewing system approved by the federal government is commendable and advised the federal government to be quick in the implementation

He also appreciated all the stakeholders that were involved in the agitation for the spirit of sportsmanship.
