The Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has urged parents to have confidence in public education.
The council boss stated this during the Catch Them Young Initiative Campaign held at Seventh Day Adventist Primary School 1&2, Agodi, Ibadan on Thursday.
He noted that the era of poor administration of public schools has gone for good, saying that the present administration in the state under Governor Seyi Makinde has redefined the public school system since 2019.
Olufade added that the elementary education in Oyo State is a contemporary of Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s vision of the 70’s.
The Ibadan North Council boss commended the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde for empowering teachers with needed materials and infrastructure, and prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuity, describing it as unprecedented.
While advocating for more cooperation from all parents in enrolling their wards in public schools, he assured them of improvement in the sector for greater competitiveness globally.
In her remarks, the Chief Coordinator of Catch Them Young Initiative and Bright Lens Media Networks, Ayodeni Aluko, called on the pupils to remain focused and hardworking towards achieving their dreams.
The event, which gathered various parents and school administrators, featured the inauguration of various educational clubs with Muhammed Munirat (Health club); Akinfenwa Michael (Press club); Adebo Dumininu (Jet club); Nduka Patrick (Environmental club); Alor Solomon (Quiz & Debate); and William Promise (Security) as coordinators.
Also attending the event was the Education Secretary, Ibadan North East Local Government, Comrade Adedotun George Olubayo, among others.
