The Oyo State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs. Rosemary Alo, has revealed that the relationship between the agency and other sisters’ related agencies in the country is beyond casual, saying that they rely on the database of the agency to track and apprehend criminals.
The Commandant, who made the revelation while featuring on the Parrot Media Network’s interview programme, Ayekooto on Radio anchored by Olayinka Agboola on Splash FM, Ibadan recently, said that the agency has a robust database which helps in keeping track of all the people who are licensed drivers and the vehicle owners in the country.
“We have very robust data which helps us to keep track of all the people who are licensed drivers and the people who have vehicles in the country. It serves as a way of monitoring, that is, only those people who are licensed can drive the vehicles and it makes it easy for us to make decisions whenever issues occur.
Responding to a question if it is polite for the delegates of the agency to chase the offensive drivers, Commandant Alo explained that FRSC is not permitted to chase drivers who committed offenses, however, disclosed that it can identify such drivers by picking their number plates, which will enable them to take necessary actions.
“Road Safety works do not permit such an act that is to chase drivers, what is expected of them is to pick their number plates because we have a database. The database will enable us to call them to action whenever it is updated.
”And we work in synergy with other agencies, if they need our assistance; in fact they have used our database to track criminals. We work with all agencies like OYRTMA, VIO, police, whenever they send a letter to us that they are looking for any individual we will definitely work on it and send the information back to them,” Oyo State FRSC Commandant said.
