Following the successful handing over of the 6 megawatt Ikere George Hydropower Plant, the founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Giwa, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Arc Giwa, who described the concessionaire arrangement as a lifetime achievement in the history of the power sector in Oyo State, attributed the success to the unwavering commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government to improve the power supply in the country.
While saluting the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, on the significant milestone in the power sector, he said that the achievement is a testament to the Minister’s commitment to the growth and development of Oyo State.
It will be recalled that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, handed over the 6-Megawatt Ikere George Hydropower Plant in Oyo State to a concessionaire, Quaint Power and Infrastructure Nigeria Limited.
According to the federal government, the concession of the hydropower plant would generate over 25,000 direct and indirect jobs as well as boost the power supply in Oyo and neighbouring states.
Arc Giwa, who is also the Asiwaju Adini Musulumi of Ibadanland, maintained that the success of the project is worth celebrating, having been abandoned for almost 46 years.
The HOG Foundation founder reiterated that the success of the multi-purpose project has indicated that there is a bright future for Oyo State under the APC-led government.
Arc Giwa, while emphasizing that the project will aid power generation, water supply, irrigation, and fishing, gave kudos to Chief Adebayo Adelabu for his determination for success, political will, and dedication towards the project that would stimulate electricity market development, enhance economic growth in the host community, and create employment opportunities for Nigerians despite political propaganda against his personality.
”The success of the Ikere George Hydropower Plant is a lifetime achievement that deserves to be celebrated. It can only be APC, it can only be Asiwaju, President Bola Tinubu, and it can only be Adelabu – kudos for the dedication and total commitment to making the project a reality in almost 46 years.
”I want to encourage the Minister, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to remain focused, determined, and not be bothered by distractions from rabble-rousers, rather to continue to give his best to revitalize the country’s power sector.
”This achievement by your ministry is a testament that there is a bright future for Oyo State in terms of even growth and development of all geopolitical zones, employment opportunities for youths, and infrastructure and power supply for all.”
