Over 86% Secure Five Credits And Above, As NECO Releases SSCE External Results

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results.

This was just 52 days after the final paper.

The examination body Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this on Monday.

He noted that a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination across 16 subjects, while 95,160 candidates eventually sat for the papers.

Prof. Wushishi stated that the performance analysis showed strong outcomes, with 71.63 per cent of candidates securing five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar specifically said that 78.32 per cent earned credit passes in English Language, while 91.35 per cent achieved credit passes in Mathematics.

He noted that overall, 86.26 per cent obtained five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.

Speaking on examination malpractice, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi said that 9,016 candidates were booked for various offences.

He said that the figures represent a 31.7 per cent increase compared to 2024.

The Registrar also noted that the examination body has blacklisted five supervisors from the FCT, Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo States, while four centres in Niger, Yobe, and Kano states were recommended for derecognition due to mass malpractice.

The examination was conducted between November 26 and December 13, 2025, with marking held from January 5 to January 21, 2026.

Prof. Wushishi described the release as another milestone in NECO’s commitment to credible assessment.

He, therefore, thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting education.
