Oyo @50 Novelty Match: Makinde Nets Brace, As AUD Saki Wins Governor’s Cup

AUD High School, Saki, has emerged winner of the Governor’s Cup football competition organized to commemorate the Oyo @50 celebration.

‎AUD defeated Olivet Grammar School, Oyo, by three goals to one in a thrilling 30 minutes each half encounter.

‎Meanwhile, in a novelty match between Team Governor Seyi Makinde and Team Mutiu Adepoju, the Governor’s team emerged winner after defeating Team Adepoju by 3 goals to 2.
‎ Governor Seyi Makinde scored twice, one in each half, and set one assist, to demonstrate his athletic skills.

‎The matches were played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Saturday.

‎The Governor’s Cup final, novelty matches, and youth carnival were part of day 6 activities of the 50th anniversary of Oyo State.

‎Featured in the novelty match between the Governor’s team and Team Adepoju were members of the House of Assembly, local government chairmen and other top government functionaries, ex-internationals, and sports administrators.

Some of them are Hon. Babajide Adebayo, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, Hon. Abiodun Babalola, Seun Olufade and Mudashir Kamorudeen.

‎The highlight was the presentation of prizes and trophies to the winners of the football competition, Ansar Ud Deen High School, Saki; Olivet Baptist Academy, Oyo; and Olanipekun Memorial High School, Kisi winning the first, second and third positions respectively by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Also, the winners of the Bee Spelling Competition received their prizes from the wife of the governor, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde.
