‘Your Pitch Is Not Suitable For Matches’- NPFL Board Tells 3SC

The Board of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has informed the management of Shooting Stars Football Club that the Lekan Salami Stadium is no longer suitable for matches.

‎This was contained in a letter forwarded to the Chairman of the club, Taiwo Lekan-Salami, on Friday.

‎The letter was signed by the board’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi.

‎

The board disclosed that the decision was in line with the broadcast and television rights entered into by the Nigeria Premier Football League.

‎It further gave the 3SC management the opportunity to choose an alternative venue between the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, and the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, for its home fixtures.

‎The letter reads:

We bring you compliments of the Board, Management and Staff of the Nigeria Premier Football League. We wish to inform you that subsequent to the broadcast and television rights entered into by the Nigeria Premier Football League recently, it has become necessary to inform you that the LEKAN SALAMI STADIUM is no more suitable to host NPFL matches.

‎‎Based on the above, you are required to choose an alternative venue between the MKO ABIOLA STADIUM ABEOKUTA and the MOBOLAJI JOHNSON ARENA LAGOS to host your home fixtures. Your reply should reach the NPFL secretariat on or before the close of business on Monday 2nd February 2026, or the N PFL will be forced to allocate a venue for you.

‎This is for your information and immediate compliance. Accept the assurances of our best sporting regards.
