‎’Use Your Position To Put Smiles On Faces Of Vulnerable’, Cleric Preaches @ Oyo Assembly Carol

People in positions of authority have been urged to use their power and position to extend God’s goodness to the vulnerable and needy in society.

The message was delivered at the 2025 Christmas Carol organized by the Christian members of the Oyo State House of Assembly under the aegis of Christian Legislators’ Fellowship International.

‎The programme was held at Parliament Chapel, House of Assembly complex, Secretariat, Ibadan.

‎This year’s event, themed ‘God of Wonders’, brought together past and serving lawmakers, retired and active staff of the assembly, and guests from within and outside government institutions to celebrate the joy and significance of Christmas.

‎The President of the Christian Legislators’ Fellowship International, Oyo State House of Assembly chapter, and lawmaker representing Ibadan South West state constituency 2, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi, in his address, described the Christmas Carol as a way to foster a sense of community among lawmakers, staff, and other government functionaries who are Christians.

‎He disclosed that the programme was an opportunity to express gratitude to God for His wonders in the lives and activities of the lawmakers and the staff of the House of Assembly.

Hon. Fowokanmi emphasized that the importance, teachings, and lessons of Christmas celebration, which marked the birth of Jesus Christ, must reflect in the life of every Christian, including the lawmakers, staff, and every other Nigerian.

‎The lawmaker charged Christians to make reference to God as a key resolution in their respective businesses, dealings, activities, and endeavours in the year 2026.

‎In his sermon titled ‘Good News’, Guest Pastor, Prophet Ezekiel Akinbiyi of Christ Power Evangelical Ministry, highlighted the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ to humanity.

Prophet Akinbiyi, who was represented by Pastor Shadrach Fakunle, urged people in positions of authority to use their power, position, and influence to benefit others.

He appealed to them to extend their God-given resources to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable and needy in society and make them feel the extent of the birth of Jesus Christ, which brought about Christmas celebration.

The programme featured Bible readings, choir renditions, gift exchanges, and special prayers for Nigeria, Oyo State, the lawmakers, and staff of the House of Assembly.
