2027: ‘We Are Taking Over’- APC Sends Strong Signal To Makinde

The All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Oyo State have called on Governor Seyi Makinde to begin preparing his handover note ahead of the 2027 governorship election, declaring that residents of the state are yearning for renewed leadership, genuine development, security, accountability, and purposeful governance—values they say the APC is ready to deliver.

Speaking at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, during a media briefing ahead of the Oyo APC Youth Summit, the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said party youths are more prepared than ever to champion the political change Oyo State deserves in 2027.

According to Aremu, the APC is ready to liberate the people from what he described as the “bondage of the PDP-led administration under Governor Makinde,” insisting that the ruling party should begin preparing for its send-forth.

He noted that the people of Oyo State are ready for a new direction driven by competent, vibrant, and progressive young leaders.

“We are sending a loud and unmistakable signal to the PDP. Let this message be clear: APC is coming. The youths are rising. The movement has started,”
Aremu declared.

He emphasized that the recent reconciliation and renewed alliance between former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, is a strong indication that the APC is now united and ready for victory in 2027.

“We know what caused our defeat in the past, and we are rebuilding. There is no division in APC today. All our gladiators are returning in unity. That’s our strength heading into 2027,”
he added.

Youth Summit: A Strategic Gathering for the Future

Speaking on the forthcoming APC Youth Summit, Aremu explained that the event is designed to reshape the future of the party, strengthen its internal structures, and reinforce the progressive ideals upon which the APC was founded.

He noted that the central theme of the summit is unity, stressing that the strength of the APC—especially its youth constituency—lies in solidarity and collective purpose.

“This summit will bring together young progressives from all local governments, zones, and interest blocs under one united umbrella. No youth will be left behind, and no voice will go unheard,”
he said.

Aremu added that the summit will provide a platform for critical self-evaluation, honest dialogue, and strategic planning ahead of the next election cycle.

“We must assess where we stand today—our strengths, weaknesses, and the gaps between leadership and the youth constituency. This is not for blame games, but to chart a clearer progressive path forward.”

A Strategic Roadmap for 2026 and Beyond

He further revealed that the summit will unveil a youth-driven strategic roadmap focusing on political mobilisation, grassroots engagement, digital advocacy, community impact programmes, and issues-based campaigns.

“2026 is not far. The future of Oyo State must be planned today. This generation of APC youths is not just prepared for the future—we are ready to lead it,”
Aremu stated confidently.

He concluded by emphasizing the party’s commitment to discipline, loyalty, and respect for party structures.

“Progressivism is built on discipline and loyalty. No party succeeds with indiscipline, and no youth structure thrives without order. We will continue to champion responsible leadership among our members.”
