The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, has paid a familiarization visit to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The visit was aimed to build a network and promote development across Yorubaland.
The first class monarch was accompanied by his wife, Abiwumi Owoade, member of the House of Representatives representing Oyo Federal constituency, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, and Alhaji AbdulWasiu Adebisi.
Also in entourage of Alafin is the Ataoja of Osogbo, the Olu of Ilaro, the Oloro of Oro, the Olusin of Ijora Isin, other federal lawmakers, and the coordinating Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South-West geo-political zone, DIG Adebowale Williams, fdc.

Speaking at the meeting, the Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abass used the occasion to brief the Alaafin and other monarchs about bills and motions that have been sponsored and raised in support of traditional rulers in Nigeria
The Speaker, who described the engagement with Oba Owoade as warm, engaging, and deeply enriching, revealing that in 2025, the Green Chamber has supported monarchs and would continue to do so.
He added that a bill to give role to monarchs is currently enjoying legislative attention, noting that they would give it speedy passage.
At the meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Alaafin, in his address, emphasized the important role traditional institutions play in ensuring the safety and security of communities and the nation at large.
The monarch further assured IGP Egbetokun of traditional rulers’ robust collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force towards achieving sustainable peace and development at the grassroots level.
