Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was contained in a letter signed personally on 14th of July, 2025.
Atiku expressed his gratitude to the party for giving him the opportunity to serve as vice president for two terms and as the presidential candidate of the party.
He stated that he is heartbroken by the decision having been a founding member of the party.
The former Vice President disclosed that the current trajectory of the party which is not in tandem with its foundational principles necessitated the decision to resign his membership.
Atiku wished the party and its leadership the best in their engagements.
