EFCC Arrests Ex-NNPC’s Chief Financial Officer, 6 Others Over $7.2b Refineries Rehabilitation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested the former Chief Financial Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) Limited, Umar Ajiya Isa.

‎Umar Ajiya Isa was arrested in connection with alleged 7.2billion dollar fraud linked with the rehabilitation of the Kaduna, Warri and Port Harcourt Refineries.

The Commission also arrested six other top officials of the corporation in connection with the money.

According to a reliable source within the commission, among the six top officers arrested by the Commission, was the former Managing Director of Warri Refinery, Jimoh Olasunkanmi.

Ajiya, as CFO,  was in charge of release of funds for the turn around maintenance of the three Refineries and all the key officials involved in the maintenance and other key projects are being investigated for alleged abuse of office,  corruption,  diversion of funds and kickbacks from contractors.

Other officials allegedly involved are,  Tunde Bakare,  MD,  Warri Refinery,  Ahmed Adamu Dikko,  former MD,  Port Harcourt Refinery and Ibrahim Monday Onoja, former MD,  Port Harcourt Refinery.
