Distinguished guests, respected leaders, and fellow citizens of Oyo State,
I stand before you today not just as a voice for change, but as a believer in justice, fairness, and unity. For too long, the leadership of our beloved state has been concentrated in one part – Ibadan. As proud and important as Ibadan is to our history and progress, it is only one part of a much larger family.
Oyo State is a mosaic of strong, vibrant communities – from the industrious people of Ogbomoso to the vast, fertile lands of Oke-Ogun, from the culturally rich zones of Oyo to the resilient people of Ibarapa. Each of these regions has contributed immensely to our state, and it is only fair that they also be given the chance to lead it.
Zoning the governorship outside Ibadan is not just about politics – it’s about equity. It’s about giving every child in every village and town the hope that one day, they too can rise to the highest office in the state.
It’s about promoting unity – showing that in Oyo State, we rise by lifting others. It is also about development – because when you give new zones a chance to lead, they bring their own ideas, energy, and solutions to the table.
Let us be guided by the principle of fairness. Let us share leadership like a family that values every member. Let us take this bold step together – for justice, for progress, and for a stronger, more united Oyo State.
The time is now. Let the next governor come from outside Ibadan. Thank you, and may God bless Oyo State.
Hon. Isiaka Kazeem Tunde, JP, CPA, mspsp, former Member, Oyo State House of Assembly
