Nigeria’s controversial Afro-Pop singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as portable has passed the first night at Oke Kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State.
This was following his inability to perfect his bail condition granted him by the court.
Portable was arranged before the court in Ilorin, Kwara State over the allegations bothering on defamation, threat to life and character assassination leveled against him by the Fuji maestro, King Saheed Osupa.
He was granted bail with conditions of one million naira and two sureties with landed property in one of the Government Reserved Areas (GRAs) in Ilorin hacked by Certificate of Occupancy, and one of the sureties must be either Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
However, the Chairman, PMAN, Kwara State chapter, Alhaji Ismail adis Owala, has refused to stand in as surety for the controversial singer, saying that he is not a member of the association.
According to him, “Portable’s lawyer contacted me today (Monday) with a request to sign for Portable’s bail. I informed him that he should make a payment of 10 million naira, but he stated that they were unable to provide such an amount and instead offered 1.5 million.
”However, I cannot betray Saheed, King Saheed Osupa Akorede as he had previously reached out to me and financial compensation from Portable is not my primary concern cos I can’t betray Saheed.
”If Portable’s lawyer contacts me again, I will request that he provide Portable’s PMAN identity card, which I am aware he will be unable to obtain or provide.”
