Makinde Extends Appreciation As Oyo Assembly Muslim Community Holds Annual Ramadan Lecture

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has expressed appreciation to the state’s Legislative for aligning with other arms of government to sustain peace and harmony in the state.

‎Governor Makinde disclosed this at the annual Ramadan lecture organized by the Muslim Community Oyo State House of Assembly, held at Western Hall, Parliamentary Building, Secretariat, Ibadan on Wednesday.

‎The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, gave the commendation while reacting to the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.

‎Makinde, who used the opportunity to further correct the insinuation in some quarters that the state House of Assembly is a rubber stamp to the executive, maintained that peace and development that is prevailing in the state is as a result of cooperation and deep understanding that is existing among the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary in the state.

He appreciated the state House of Assembly’s choice of topic for this year’s Ramadan lecture, which according to him should be discussed periodically, adding that genuine love and trust is the bedrock of every successful marriage.

The Chairman of the Day, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe commended that there is no marriage without one or two challenges, commending the organizing committee on the choice of topic.

Alhaji Aderibigbe, who is also the Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, called for rapt attention to the lecturer in order to learn one or two things that can help in the sustenance of marriage.

Earlier in his welcome address, Deputy Speaker, Oyo Assembly, Honourable Mohammed Fadeyi, charged the gathering to inculcate the significant points of the lecture in order to impact their lives.

Hon. Fadeyi, who is also the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Muslim Community, charged Muslim to use the holy month of Ramadan to seek forgiveness and maintain peaceful co-existence in the state and Nigeria as a nation.

Speaking on the lecture titled, “Matrimonial Harmony In Islam, Navigating Contemporaries Challenges” Imam, Oyo State Secretariat Mosque, Ustaz Ayobami Oyegoke, said aside from love, peace and kindness, same religion is a major key factor to marital harmony.

‎Ustaz Oyegoke described marriage as the will of God, urged couples to imbibe the act of spending quality time together, maintain balance between family and their career, as well as avoid external influence and encourage the spirit of forgiveness in their matrimonial affairs.

‎The event was graced by Hon. Dawud Olalere, Hon. Modiu Akande, Chairman, Chairman of the House of Assembly Commission, Hon. Femi Julius, Clerk of the House, Mrs. Taiwo Muraina-Akinola, Chairman , Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Muslim Wing, Sheik Hazim Atere among others.
