Ramadan Begins As Saudi Confirms Sighting Of Moon

The authorities in Saudi Arabia have confirmed that Ramadan will begin tomorrow, March 1 following the sighting of the moon.

It was also announced that the first Taraweeh, which is a voluntary night prayer during Ramadan, will be observed on Friday.

The moon, which was sighted on Friday marked the commencement of Ramadan by the Muslim.

Ramadan marks the beginning of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the start of the 29 to 30 day period of fasting between dawn and sunset.

The crescent moon sighting is important as it determines the exact date of the celebrated occasion.
