Northern politicians nursing the ambition of becoming the president in 2027 have been advised to perish the thought.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, gave the advice on Tuesday, saying that it is Bola Tinubu’s turn.
The former Kano State governor disclosed this while receiving members of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre (PBAT Media Centre) and Tinubu Northern Youth Forum (TNYF), who paid him a courtesy visit at the party national secretariat in Abuja.
Ganduje, who recalled that former President, Muhammadu Buhari incidentally from Katsina in the North West zone enjoyed a two-term of eight years, insisted that it was the turn of Bola Tinubu from South West to exercise another 8 years mandate in what he called a fulfillment of power rotation between North and South.
He maintained that any politician of Northern extraction nursing a presidential ambition must be on a wild goose chase as he noted that “the north-south sharing formula must strictly be adhered to.”
“When a leader from the northern part of this country was in office for 8 years, we advocated that the next president in our party should come from the south.
“And luckily enough, we worked very hard with the cooperation of Nigerians. Our president has come from the south and is going, inshallah, for a second term, 2027. And then after that, it will return to the northern part of this country,” Ganduje said.
