Oyo State Government in collaboration with aquatic hub, Royal Entertainment has completed arrangements for the hosting of first ever Ibadan Valentine Cruise.
The event is to commemorate the annual Valentine’s Day on Friday, 14th, 2025 at Eleyele Waterfront, Ibadan.
Addressing the journalists at the press conference to herald the event on behalf of the Oyo State Government, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, said that Governor Seyi Makinde’s led government has recorded great achievements in terms of hospitality ventures in the state.
He attributed the success recorded to the conducive and enabling environment, infrastructure development in terms of roads connection and political will of the governor to change the narrative as far as culture and tourism sector is concerned in the state.
Dr. Olatunbosun disclosed that these qualities have boosted the morale and confidence of the investors to come down to Oyo State to invest.
Rolling out the statistics, the Commissioner confirmed that Governor Seyi Makinde’s led administration efforts has increased the registered hospitality ventures which include hotel, night clubs and event centres from 1, 328 to 12, 128 and accommodated 18, 152 tourists between 2019 and December 2024.
Dr. Olatunbosun, who said the state government has concluded arrangements to promote aquatic tourism, charged residents and visitors of the state to come and explore the initiative at the first edition of Ibadan Valentine Cruise.
He said the event is not only to promote peace, love, friendship and tolerance among residents and visitors but also to improve income and economy of the state.
The Commissioner assured that the organizers have put in place adequate measures to ensure security of lives and properties and hitch-free fanfare by collaborating with the state Ministry of Health, Fire Service and security agencies
In his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Entertainment, Dr. Sanmi Bamidele, lauded efforts of Governor Makinde in developing and promoting culture and tourism in the state.
He highlighted scintillating programs scheduled for Valentine day and assured participants of adequate security and safety.
