The Chairman of the council area, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, who organized the competition, disclosed that the initiative is to replicate Governor Seyi Makinde’s good governance style at the local level.

He said that the initiative is purposely to inspire the young ones in the primary and secondary schools to be able to task themselves intellectually.

“The major reason for the initiative is that we are trying to replicate Governor Seyi Makinde’s good governance style at Oluyole Local Government, so as to inspire our younger generations, the pupils at the primary and secondary schools, to be able to task themselves intellectually. With this they know that if they put in their best, if they study hard, automatically there is reward for them.

“We want Oyo State to be coming out as the best in all areas of endeavors be it in academics, sports and many other ones, and you can only get it right if you catch them young at their elementary level. That is why we are doing this to encourage our younger ones; they should know that someone is watching, Governor Seyi Makinde is watching them through the various local government chairmen. We are more or less pioneering this to encourage others also to do it and for our pupils in Oluyole to know that their government is alive to its responsibilities, and we will always be there for them to ensure that they pursue their career and they become whatever they aspire to become in life.

“This is because if Oluyole produces the president of Nigeria, I don’t think it is too much, if Oluyole produces governor and many others, I don’t think it I too much, and since the day of Dimeji Lawal and Mutiu Adepoju, we have not been able to produce talent and we have them in abundance, that is why we are doing this to encourage them that it is good to put in your best in whatever you are doing and there is a reward for excellence.”

Olatunji said that his objective is to position the council area as the pace setter for other local governments in Nigeria, adding that parts of the ideas is what brought about the first ever security and economic summit to be organized by a local government in the history of Nigeria.

He noted that it is a way to ensure that people of Oluyole Local Government are getting value for their vote and for the confidence they have in the administration of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

While assuring the people of Oluyole Local Government of more dividends of democracy and that the programme is going to be a continuous exercise under his administration, even beyond, Engr. Olatunji urged them to continue to give the needed support to the present administration in the state.
