Makinde Presents 2025 Budget, Allocates Over 43 Percent To Infrastructure, Education

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has presented a sum of N678,086,767,332,18 as budget for the 2025 to the state House of Assembly.

The budget was presented at the special plenary presided by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on Wednesday.

The budget according to the governor, is to consolidate the economic gains engineered through the 2024 Budget of Economic Recovery and translate them into more tangible benefits for the people.

Makinde estimated a sum of N343 billion equivalent of 50.59 percent as capital expenditure and a sum of N335 billion naira equivalent of 49.41 as recurrent expenditure.

He allocated a sum of N152 billion equivalent of 22.4 percent and a sum of N145 billion equivalent of 21 percent of the budget to infrastructure and education.

These indicated that the two sectors took the largest percentage of the Appropriation.

Also, the governor budgeted a sum of N59 billion (9%) and a sum of N18 billion (3%) to health and agriculture sectors respectively.

Makinde said that the 2025 budget proposal is 35 percent higher than the 2024 budget.
