Hon. Olusola Oluokun, the suspended Chairman of Oyo East Local Government area has been reinstated by the Oyo State House of Assembly.
His reinstatement was followed by the report presented during a plenary session on Thursday by the Chairman Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olajide Akintunde from Lagelu state constituency.
Oluokun was cleared of the charges after the Committee chairman reported that the viral video, which led to his suspension, was posted by mistake.
The report also revealed that the concerned chairman has shown genuine remorse for the incident.
The Committee, therefore, recommended the immediate reinstatement of the chairman
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, and Hon. Olorunpoto Rahman, praised the Committee for conducting a swift and thorough investigation.
They noted that the suspension served as a cautionary reminder to others regarding their conduct in public office.
The Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, directed that the acting Vice Chairman return to his previous role, and announced the immediate reinstatement of Hon. Oluokun.
He also urged public office holders to exercise caution in their conduct, particularly in public settings.
