Dry Season: Oyo Fire Services Agency Calls For Caution

In preparation for the dry season, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Reverend Akinyemi Akinyinka, has called on the people of the state to be cautioned and vigilant

Reverend Akinyinka made the call at the 2024 Fire Prevention Week held at the Agency’s Premises, Secretariat, Ibadan on Thursday.

The Theme for thus year’s programme is “Good House Keeping, Panacea to Effective Fire Safety.”

The Oyo State Fire Services General Manager appealed to the officers of the Agency to apply practical knowledge of putting fire under control whenever there is occurrence.

He said that the experience of newly recruited officers garnered during their practical training at the Oyo State Fire Training School would help the state to control the fire outbreak.

Reverend Akinyinka enjoined officers of the Agency to be dedicated to their duties and stay away from any act that can jeopardize their career in the system that produced them.

“we are celebrating 2024 International Day for Fire prevention, we are using the opportunity of the day to sensitize our men on fire prevention control. We have started the sensitization a month ago when we have carried out the fire safety control to the various markets in the seven geo-political zones of the state.”

Speaking at the event, A Former Director of the Agency, Elder Kolade, emphasized the need for the good house keeping, saying that if fire drops and nothing to trigger it, there will not be fire disaster.

He said carelessness, smoking in bed, throwing cigarette light around, burning bushes are the major courses of the fire out break in the society.
