Bill Seeking To Name Oke-Ogun Polytechnic After Koleoso Passed Into Law

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill to name Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki after late Chief Michael Adebisi Koleoso into law.

The bill was passed on Tuesday during the plenary session after the presentation of the report by the Chairman, House Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology), Hon. Oluwafemi Oluwafowokanmi.

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin constituted the House to form Committee of the Whole to enable them considered the bill, tagged “Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki Amendment Bill, 2024, clause by clause.

It will be recalled that Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso died on September 2, 2024 at the age of 86.

He served as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) between 1999 and 2003 during the administration of late former Governor Lamidi Adesina.

He was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly in 1979 before Bola Ige, a former governor of the state, appointed him commissioner same year.

Until his death, Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso was the Babalaje of Saki land.

Hon. Ogundoyin, in his remarks after the passage of the bill, said the bill was to honor and recognise Chief Michael Koleoso’s significant contributions to Oke-Ogun and indeed Oyo State.
