A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Benedcit Akika has been abducted by gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Akika, a key supporter of Governor Seyi Makinde’s key supporters, was abducted by unknown gunmen in his residence at Olorunda-Aba on Wednesday night.
A source within the environment disclosed that unknown gunmen wearing masks stormed his residence of Mr. Akika within Lagelu local Government Area of the state and abducted him.
Unconfirmed report also indicated that a life was possibly lost during the abduction on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command is yet to issue an official statement as regards the incident.
However, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said that investigation has commenced into the matter and details would be provided accordingly.
“An investigation into the matter has begun. Please, note that updates will be given appropriately.”
Also, the state government has not issued any statement concerning the unfortunate incident.
