When Makinde, NASS Members, Olugbon, Onpetu, Others Joined NSIB Director, Hon. Wumi Oladeji To Bid Mother Farewell

It was indeed a celebration of life over the weekend in Ogbomoso, where dignitaries across walks of life joined a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and a Director of Public Affairs, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, (NSIB), Hon. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji bid her mother, Mama Janet Kikelomo Oladeji a farewell.

While the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde led other members from the executive arm of government to the venue of the funeral service, Senator representing Oyo North, Abdulfatai Buhari led other members from the National Assembly. Onpetu of Ijeruland, Oba Sunday Oyediran and Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Sunday Alao led other traditional rulers to the venue.

The burial ceremony also witnessed the presence of family members, prominent scholars, captains of industries, business associates and chieftains of different political parties and well-wishers.

Some of the guests include Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala, Chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Niran Adeyoju, representatives from NSIB, past and serving members of Oyo State House ofAssembly among others.

Speaking at Salem Baptist Church, Gaa Masifa Area, Ogbomoso, where the church service was held, Governor Seyi Makinde, in his tribute, said that the burial service and testimonies by the people was evident that late mama Oladeji was committed to family and her children while on earth.

According to the state Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin, who represented the governor, “The message of His Excellency is that Mama Kikelomo Oladeji lived a good life that all of us should emulate. She trained the children, as you can see that the children of Mama have made it in life.

“We should also know that we must train our children so that when we are no more, they will sustain whatever we live for.” Shangodoyin stated.

Also speaking at the reception, Viva Continental Event Centre, Ogbomoso-Ikirun road, Ogbomoso Oyo State, where the event was climaxed, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo state, Prince Niran Adeyoju SDM said the large number of dignitaries at the event was a testament of Mama Oladeji’s good deeds while alive.

In an emotional laden voice, daughter of the deceased, Hon. Olawumi Oladeji described her mother as her spiritual warrior who was committed to the wellbeing of her.

She appreciated people’s support before and after Mama’s departure.

Earlier in a sermon with the bible text, Psalm 39 verse 6, the priest, Revd Dr Ola Ajadi who spoke on the topic ‘Wake Up, The End Is Nearer’ said life is short, describing it as like a shadow in a mirror that fades away.

According to Revd Ola Ajadi, Life is like a cloud that quickly disappears in the sky while death is a necessary end to everyone on earth, urging people to live an impactful life.

Mama Janet Kikelomo Oladeji, JP, Nee Amao-Alata died on 28th of February, 2024 at the age of 83 during a brief illness.
