The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced the suspension of strike for one week.
This was followed after a joint meeting of extraordinary national executive council meeting the of the Unions on Tuesday.
According to TUC President, Festus Usifo, said the suspension of the strike was to allow further negotiation between the labour union and the Tripartite Minimum Wage Committee.
He noted that the communique will be issued after the meeting to give details of the meeting.
NLC had earlier said that the nationwide strike which began on Monday, would continue pending the outcome of its meeting with its organs scheduled for Tuesday.
NLC’s comment came hours after the Federal Government convened a meeting with labour unions, including the Trade Union Congress (TUC) held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), to end the strike action.
However, after exhaustive deliberation and engagement, NLC said FG agreed to a minimum wage higher than N60,000.
