After Onido, Makinde Suspends Another Traditional Ruler

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde

Few weeks after the suspension of Onido of Ido land, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Bablola, Oyo State Government has also announced the suspension of another traditional ruler, Chief Kilani Ajani, Baale of Ilua in Saki West Local Government Area of the state.

While the suspension of Onido of Ido was in connection with the illegal mining activities, Chief Ajani’s suspension was premised on his activities, which have allegedly caused unrest and political strife within Ilua and Gbepakan communities in the council area of the state.

According to a letter addressed to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola from the Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Biodun Aikomo, Chief Ajani was recommended for suspension based on a letter from the Oyo State Solid Minerals Development Agency.

The suspension, which was approved by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, is to prevent the crisis in the communities from festering and to allow a fair investigation into the allegations against Chief Ajani.
