Olanrewaju Adepoju’s Death: Oyo Governor Mourns

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has mourned the death of foremost Yoruba poet and musician, Olanrewaju Adepoju.

The governor, in his condolences message on Monday, described Adepoju as one of Oyo’s worthy ambassadors in the entertainment industry, stating that he flew the glorious flag of the Pacesetter State for decades.

Governor Makinde condoled with the immediate family of the late poet and the entire people of Ibadanland, praying to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“I express my deep condolences to the family of Pa Olanrewaju Adepoju, the renowned social crusader, who used poetry and music to correct social ills.

“Baba Olanrewaju Adepoju was a great ambassador of the Pacesetter State, who flew the flag of the state as a social crusader and made a huge impact on the society.

“My prayer is that God grants repose to his soul and protects the family he left behind,” Makinde said.

The popular artiste died at his Idi Orogbo off Ring Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State residence around 7pm on Sunday evening after a rather protracted old-age related ailments.

The late valiant ‘ewi exponent’ waxed several records to fight against societal ills and military adventure in politics.
