The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of the State Legislature of Nigeria, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has lauded the stance of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) on the demands of the striking parliamentary staff, describing it as positive.
This is followed the suspension of the three week old national strike called by the leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) over the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the state legislatures,
Hon. Ogundoyin, in a post on his page on Instagram, appreciated the collaborative efforts of all the stakeholders, particularly the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) led by the Governor of Kwara State, Abdul Rahman AbdulRasaq in resolving the impasse.
According to the Conference of Speaker’s Chairman, the collaborative efforts of all the stakeholders led to the decision of the striking parliamentary staff to suspend the industrial action.
“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) led by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the President and the Executive of PASAN led by Comrade Usman Mohammed, Conference of Speakers led by my humble self with the Speakers of Bauchi ,Rt. Hon Abubakar Suleiman, Speaker of Gombe State, Rt. Hon Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewu and the Director General of the Conference, Mr. Busari Sharafadeen.
“I am glad that all stakeholders were able to come to an agreement in ensuring the implementation of financial autonomy for the State Houses of Assembly and the State Judiciary,” Conference of Speakers Chairman said.
He expressed happiness over resumption of work in all the 36 State Houses of Assembly across the country.
