Oyo Assembly Jack-Up Supplementary Budget By Over N40M

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the 2023 Supplementary Budget into law.

The bill was passed into law after the clause by clause consideration by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and other members of the House during the plenary on Tuesday.

According to the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Appropriation, and State Economy, Hon. Olasunkanmi Babalola, who presented the report on the floor of the House, the 2023 budget was increased by over 40 million naira.

The House increased the budget for the recurrent and capital expenditures from the sum of N169,477,133,034.38 to N170,167,133,034.38 and N182,805,366,965.62 to N182,115,366,965.62 respectively.

Based on the increment by the House of Assembly, the sum of N352,282,500,000 was passed as the Supplementary Budget for the year 2023.

Some of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) affected in the realignment of the 2023 budget include Office of the Governor,  the state Assembly, House of Assembly Service Commission, Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Others are the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the State Investment Promotion and Public Private Partnership, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the State Agricbusiness Agency, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Special Duties.

It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde last year presented a budget proposal of N310 billion to the Oyo State House of Assembly, declaring that his administration remained determined to deliver good governance to the people of the state till the end of the tenure.

The budget was tagged “Budget of Sustainable Development’’.
