The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has described the Supreme Court judgment as a breach of the citizens’ trust in the judiciary.
The Labour Party candidate gave the submission while addressing a world press conference at the LP National Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Obi, in his reaction to the presidential election Supreme Court ruling, accused the apex court of ignoring evidence which he said further dampens citizens’ trust in the judiciary.
The apex court had some weeks ago dismissed the appeals of Obi and that of his counterpart, Atiku Abubakar challenging Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
“Without equivocation, this judgment amounts to a breach of confidence Nigerians have in our judiciary. To that extent, it is a show of unreasonable force against the very Nigerian people from whom the power of the Nigerian citizens is drawn.
Obi assured his supporters that the quest for a new Nigeria has not ended.
“I assure all Nigerians that this is not the end. A new and prosperous Nigerian is not an event, it is not a destination, it’s a journey,” he added.
“I will not give up on the quest for a Nigeria that is founded on Character, competence, integrity, compassion, and rule of law,” Obi said.
