Oyo NSCDC Trains Directors Of Private Security On Effective Information Gathering

The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr. Michael Adaralewa has identified information gathering as a very key factor to an effective security network of any nation.

Dr. Adaralewa disclosed this while declaring open, the training on Effective Information Gathering tagged, “Safety and Security Management for Private Security Practitioners” organized for directors of private security agencies in Oyo State.

The training was organized by the Department Private Guard Company (PGC) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command.

Oyo NSCDC Commandant expressed that importance of training and updating of knowledge in the security sector can not be over emphasized, saying that they are parts of ways to build our capacity in providing better security services for protection of lives and properties

Dr. Adaralewa reiterated that that is why the Oyo State Command of NSCDC makes training and re-training a topmost priority.

He revealed that the closeness between the NSCDC and operators of private security agencies is as a result of the prompt information gathering that gives the corps the opportunity to nib crime in the bud in the state.

In his address, the Head of Department Private Guard Company of the command, Assistant Commandant, Oyeniyi Oyeku, expressed the need and importance of private security practice in the protection of lives and properties.

He said that the objective of organising the seminar is to enhance the knowledge of participants on the rising security threats to safety of lives and properties and coverage on the innovative approaches to security management for solution.

While appreciating the management of the corps, the chairman of the Association of License Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Mr. Seyi Alaba, commended NSCDC and his private Guard Company Department for making the security of lives and properties a paramount one.

He urged them to continue with this type of capacity building programme for more effective information gathering.

The one day seminar featured five presentations; among the lecturers are ASC 1 Omotola Saheed, DCC Olusoji Akingbade, DSC Jude Olaniregun, ASC1 Olatayo Olaoye, and Oyeniyi Oyeku.
