Senate To Screen CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, Others Today

The Senate will begin its legislative duties by attending to correspondences from Tinubu, who has requested the confirmation of some appointments he made during the vacation.

The appointments include Olayemi Cardoso as the new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor and four deputy governors, namely Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

The Senate has fixed Tuesday to screen the new CBN leaders, who assumed duty last Friday. 

Also to be screened is the President Tinubu’s Minister of Youth, Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Minister of State Youth, Ayodele Olawande respectively.

Other appointments are the new Chairman for the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji and the Board and Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The Senate adjourned on August 17 after confirming 45 of President Bola Tinubu’s 48 ministerial nominees. Senate President Godswill Akpabio also announced the composition of 74 standing committees.
