The Oyo State House of Assembly has called for the reinstatement of the suspended Chairman of Kajola Local Government, Hon. Salimon Borikansunwon
Hon. Borikansunwon was on suspension following the allegations of misconduct and misappropriation of local government funds leveled against him.
His reinstatement order was moved during the plenary on Wednesday.
Presenting the report of the adhoc committee that carried out investigation into the allegation, Hon. Peter Ojedokun of Ibarapa North/Central, charged the reinstated Chairman to henceforth prioritize an all-inclusive government.
Meanwhile, the state’s House of Assembly has asked Governor Seyi Makinde to declare every August 20 as Isese Day (day for Traditionalists).
The leader of the House, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon. Oyekola Gbenga from Atiba constituency and Hon. Adebayo Babajide of Ibadan North 2 constituency made a case for Isese Day in their motion presented at plenary.
They argued that setting aside a day would help uphold indigenous culture and traditions, and would satisfy the long yearning of traditionalists in the state for the August 20 declaration.
The lawmakers unanimously spoke in favour of the motion, noting that some of them even during campaigns also seek for votes from traditionalists.
In a related development, the Oyo State House of Assembly also called on the Federal Government to construct pedestrian bridges at some sections of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway that fall within the Ibadan metropolis
According to the motion moved by a member representing Oluyole state constituency, Hon. Waheed Akintayo identified areas such as Felele, Soka, Sanyo, Boluwaji and Academy as hotspots, where hit and run incidents are mostly recorded and lives lost.
