Governorship/House Of Assembly Elections: Ajimobi Attributes APC Woeful Performance To Selfish Interest

Wife of former governor of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi has attributed the woeful performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to personal interest by some stakeholders in the party.

The former First Lady disclosed this while featuring on a radio interview programme in Ibadan on Saturday.

APC governorship candidate in the March 18 election, Sen Teslim Folarin lost woefully to the incumbent, Engr. Seyi Makinde after the latter won 31 local governments, leaving only two to the former.

Mrs Ajimobi explained that she had to come out of mourning to appeal to all stakeholders in order to ensure reconciliation among the warring factions.

“Despite all my efforts to ensure peace among all stakeholders and allow central interest to prevail, they went for personal interest which eventually led to disunity and woeful performance experienced in the March 18 governorship election.

“I was the state Coordinator for Tinubu/Shettima in Oyo State, and the party won. We produced three senators and eight House of Representatives members. I hosted members of the party for a meeting ahead of the second election and I told them to vote their conscience because the party was divided.

“There were those that left for the Accord, those that remained in APC were not interested in the second election and the result was what played out,” the Former First Lady said.
