Ramadan Commences On Thursday, As Sultan of Sokoto Confirms Sighting Of Moon

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has announced that this year’s Ramadan will commence on Thursday, March 23 following the sighting of the moon on Wednesday.

The National Moon Sighting Committee made this known in a short statement on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

The National Moon Sighting Committee has reported the sighting of the crescent of Ramadan 1444H from different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Abubakar, who is also the President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), corroborated this in a broadcast Wednesday night.

He felicitated with the entire Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming 1444AH Ramadan Fast.

He prayed that Allah spares the lives of every Muslim to participate in the exercise and to maximize the benefits therein.
