Angry Protesters Set Ablaze Police Station, Attack Bank, Destroy Vehicle, Other Properties In Ibadan

Some angry youths, who took to the street in the name of protesting against the lingering crisis of cash crunch and fuel scarcity, have set ablaze Agodi Police Station at Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The mobs also attacked one of old generation banks located in the area, destroyed vehicle, Automated Teller Machines and some other properties within the vicinity.

The protesters, who stormed the area around 11am on Friday, were seen armed with different weapons.

 

They also attacked the state secretariat, where they injured one police officer, who was preventing them from gaining access to the main entrance.

 

The police and army officers that were strategically positioned to prevent breakdown of law and order allegedly fled from the scene.

 

The protesters, who barricaded the roads leading to the Iwo area, were also burning fires on the roads to prevent movement of vehicles and motorists.

 

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adéwálé Oshifeso, said he would brief the media after authenticating the information.
