
The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital has nullified the recently conducted local government elections in the state.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) on October 15 conducted elections into all the 30 local government areas in the state, where all candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were declared winners.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, declared that the election had been held in violation of Sections 29 and 32 of the Electoral Act of 2022.
The Peoples Democratic Party had petitioned the court to prevent OSIEC from conducting the scheduled elections.
Other respondents in the matter include INEC, APC and its then chairman, Adeboyega Famoodun.
