KWASU Loses Vice Chancellor, Kwara Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Mourns

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Muhammad Akanbi been announced dead.

His death was announced on Sunday and according to the source, he will be buried in his Ilorin hometown on Monday.

Prof Akanbi was the first son of the late pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he became the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete in 2019.

Following his death, condolence messages have been pouring in from several quarters with the Governor of Kwara State Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq leading the tributes.

In a condolence message late Sunday, the governor described the development as “painful and shocking” but admitted that “we must submit to the decree of Allah who gives and takes.

“It is against that backdrop that we mourn the Vice Chancellor who answered Allah’s call tonight. He was a true and humble servant of Allah and we beseech our God, the Oft-Forgiving and Merciful, to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
