As part of a move to break the hegemony of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the university system, the Federal Government has registered two more unions.
The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, explained on Tuesday that the two bodies will exist alongside ASUU.
The unions are the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) and the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA).
This is part of plans by the federal government to put an end to strike action embarking upon by ASUU from February 14, 2022.
ASUU has been protesting unpaid allowances and demanding a better welfare package from the Federal Government.
