2023: Atiku, PDP Governorship Candidates Meet

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and all governorship candidates of the party have met to strategize.

The meeting was held on Saturday at the residence of the former Vice President at Asokoro, Abuja.

Also attending the meeting with PDP presidential candidate was his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

The governorship candidates in attendance include Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina, Lagos, Niger, Kano, Sokoto, Delta, Yobe, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, Borno, Ebonyi and Zamfara states.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, lasted for more than an hour.

After it ended, Atiku and the governorship candidates declined to grant an interview to the press.

However, Chairman of the PDP Governorship Candidates Forum and candidate in Kaduna State, Isah Ashiru, said the meeting was to congratulate Atiku and all the candidates.

He said they discussed extensively as a family on a wide range of issues.

Asked if the current rift between Atiku and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State was part of the discussion, Ashiru said no.

But on Wike’s call for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, Ashiru said due process must be followed.
