Oyo Police Command Gets New Commissioner, Adebowale Williams

The Oyo State Police Command has got a new Commissioner in person of Mr. Adebowale Williams.

The new Police Commissioner was partially introduced by the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde at the state Security Council Meeting held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan on Thursday.

The outing was the first official assignment for Mr. Adebowale Williams who happened to be the 44th Commissioner of Police for the Oyo State Command.

Williams replaces Ngozi Onadeko, who was recently promoted to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and transferred to the Force Headquarters to take charge of Police Armament.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, in a statement officially introducing the new Commissioner, described him as a thoroughbred professional police officer.

According to him, ‘Williams, a thoroughbred professional and fine police officer, is coming on board with a record 30 years of stellar working experience spanning across administration, intelligence, operations and public relations’.

“CP Adebowale Williams was born on January 28. He hails from Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992.

“A thoroughbred professional and fine Police Officer with a record 30 years of stellar working experience spanning across administration, intelligence, operations and Public Relations, his intimidating resume is indeed a testimony of his remarkable pedigree.

“Professionally, he commenced his job in the Nigeria Police Force after his Commissioning in 1993 at Enugu State Police Command, South-East Nigeria where he later became the State Public Relations Officer.

“In furtherance to the above, he also served and held different positions which includes but not limited to Command and Staff Positions, Commander Special Anti-Robbery Squad and 2i/c Special Enquiry Bureau.

“He was Area Commander Kontagora, Niger State, an active member of the IGP Special Investigation Unit, Staff Officer Federal Operations, Director Professional Studies Police Staff College Jos and CP FCID Annex, Gombe.

“His leadership and operational prowess is internationally recognized across the Security Space, evident upon this was his draft to perform key operational Peace-Keeping Mission functions in Kosovo, Sierra Leone and East Timor.

“Academically, the Commissioner of Police holds a B.sc in Political Science, M.sc in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and an LLB in Law.

“A fellow, National Defence College and a distinguished member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.”
