Police Disrupt Plan Robbery Operation In Ibadan, Arrest Two Bank Staff, Gang Members

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command has arrested two bank staff and a criminal gang specialized in bank robbery operations.

Police in effort to ensure a crime free Oyo State intensified intelligence and purposeful driven operation by identified, tracked and apprehended members of the gang on Monday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, disclosed that the preliminary investigation revealed that two of the gang were contract staff and marketer with a new generation bank.

They are Abass Azeez ‘m’ 42yrs, Mayowa Kehinde ‘m’ 29yrs contract staff/marketer with a new generation bank, Rildwan Eniola ‘m’ 33yrs, Mistura Akinade ‘f’ 33yrs, Abass Aderoju ‘m’ 41yrs and Akeem Adeniyi ‘m’ 37yrs.

Osifeso further disclosed that the robbers nabbed at their hide-out in Agara, Odo-Ona along Akala Expressway, Ibadan on Monday after concluding plans to execute a bloody bank robbery attack on another new generation bank within the metropolis in the early hours of Tuesday.

The PPRO said that the suspects have all confessed their various involvements in the criminal operations which include arms procurement and clandestine intelligence gathering ahead of the proposed date of perpetrating the dastardly act.

While comprehensive investigations are in progress to crackdown the criminal network and other accomplices, the state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, enjoined the residents of the state to continue partnering with the Police in terms of providing timely and credible information valuable in curbing criminality and maintaining the relative tranquility enjoyed in the state.
