The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has rescheduled its gubernatorial primary election till tomorrow after some logistics failures were identified by the electoral panel.
There was absolutely nothing on the ground by the time the electoral panel led by Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi arrived at the venue at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
Even there, no member of the state working committee was in attendance to receive the electoral panel, let alone of putting other necessary logistics in place for the success of the exercise.
It was also noted that there was no sitting arrangement, no provision of electoral materials and other necessary measures needed to be put in place.
The only thing that was ready was the presence of security operatives and members of the press, who were much available to carry out their duties.
Speaking to the aspirants who were jostling to clinch the party ticket, the panel chairman, Sen. Afikuyomi, appealed to them to address their supporters to leave the venue for the exercise to begin.
The aspirants who were in attendance include Chief Bayo Adelabu, Senator Teslim Folarin, Bar Akeem Agbaje, Engr. Hakeem Also and Dr. Azeez Adeduntan.
It was reported that one of the aspirants, Chief Niyi Akintola has stepped down.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bar Mutiu Agboke, who was in attendance to monitor the exercise, said it is only the duty of the Commission to monitor the exercise, saying that there was no official statement to confirm the reschedule
He said that whenever they are ready the Commission will be there to perform its duty.
Other members of APC who were in attendance include Sen Ayoade Adeseun, Bar Bayo Shitu and son of the late former governor, Olamiju Alao Akala.
