Hon. Fowokanmi Clinches Oyo House Of Assembly Return Ticket, Says No Victor No Vanguished

Hon. Oluwafemi Adebayo Fowokanmi has been declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) primary election in Ibadan South West state constituency 2.

Hon. Fowokanmi, who defeated five other aspirants to emerge the party candidate at the keenly contested election, said that there is no victor and there is no vanguished

The election to determine who will fly the party ticket at the 2023 general elections was held at Teacher’s House, Oke-Ado, Ibadan on Saturday.

According to Mr. Adetona Jamiu, who is the returning officer, declared Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi the winner after receiving 8 votes to defeat five other aspirants.

Hon. Fowokanmi defeated Samson Fatola (3 votes), Babatunde Ige (3 votes), Alarape Kazeem (3 votes), Jimoh Saheed (0 vote) and Gbenga Emmanuel (0 vote).

Speaking after the primary election, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi, commended the electoral officers and party leaders for the free and fair primary election.

The lawmaker also appreciated all delegates for their commitment and peaceful conduct throughout the election.

Hon. Fowokanmi expressed that the victory is for all members of the party in the constituency, saying that there is no victor and there is no vanguished.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Education, lauded the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his leadership quality to ensure peaceful conduct of the party primary in the constituency and others in the state

Hon. Fowokanmi, while extending his hands of fellowship to others aspirants, he stated that it is time for everyone to move together and work for the progress of PDP in Oyo State.

“I want to say that the primary election is an internal affairs of the party between brothers, and that has been settled and everyone has come together to embrace one another to show how we love ourselves, how we love PDP and how we love our dear state.

“We understand that we have to work together to make sure that we remain in power beyond 2023. We have to allow peace to rein, we have to work together to ensure PDP retain Oyo State and take over federal come 2023 general elections. However, in order to realise this, we must come together as one and work in unity, we should not allow anybody to leave because it is a collective effort.

“I want to appreciate our governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and all our leaders in the local government for the commitment and dedication. I also appreciate all our members and delegates for their conduct and support. I will not take it for granted. I pray that come 2023 general elections, we shall laugh best,” Hon. Fowokanmi said.

Fowokanmi done for the constituents of the Ibadan South West in the last three years of representing them apart from running around as the governor ‘s errand boy I stead of staying by to legislate of qualitative bills and motions for the constituents. We need to engage him in a robust and intellectual discourse and not just jubilating in the euphoria of his nomination for the 2nd term by PDP.
